What is Permanent Makeup (PMU)?
Permanent makeup (PMU) is the process of implanting pigment into the skin. It has many other names you may come across when researching such as semi-permanent makeup (SMPU), micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing, derma pigmentation, makeup tattooing or intradermal pigmentation. They are all the same thing and are achieved with a machine or a microblade or a combination of the two.
Permanent makeup is like conventional tattooing; however, the pigment doesn’t go as deep into the skin (traditional tattooing deposits ink at around 3mm deep whereas permanent makeup pigment sits at around 1mm deep). The pigments that I use are Perma Blend or Tina Davies and they are all hypoallergenic, vegan and cruelty free and in addition, they are stable shades so they fade at the same rate and do not change colour in the skin unlike tattoo inks which can develop a blue or pink tinge.
The pigment used is permanent, however the colour could fade or could appear to disappear which is why a top up every 12 -18 months or so is suggested to keep things looking fresh.
Your permanent makeup can fade for several reasons such as UV exposure, lifestyle, skin type, age, medication, and health. It is recommended to apply an SPF 50 to prevent fading from UV exposure.
Permanent makeup can be as soft and natural or as bold and dramatic as you like. It’s custom matched to you and shades and styles are determined during the consultation and initial treatment stage. I can blend any lip colour you require and have a multitude of shades to perfectly match your hair colour and tones.
All treatment prices include your consultation, the treatment, aftercare and a top up 6-12 weeks later.
